Tales from the 1st Grade: Cause and Effect

We're working on cause and effect in first grade these days. I've been using the series of books "If You Give a Mouse A Cookie", "If You Give a Pig a Pancake", and "If You Give a Cat a Cupcake" to prompt the students to write their own cause and effect stories. Here are 2 hilarious ones!

Translation for those of you who don't read 1st grade phonetic spelling every day:
"If you give a pig a mfshit (math sheet, LOL) he'll need to get a pencil and a paper. He needs to write neat. He'll do a good job"

This is my FAVORITE! It is a very logical chain of events for cause and effect!
"If you give a cat some money he will want to buy something. He will buy a Pepsi. He will pee on himself and he will want to take a bath."

Tales from the 1st grade: Valentine's

Valentine's Day in first grade is SO fun and chaotic. The kids get so excited about sharing their Valentine's. They are so sweet when they read their Valentine's too. I rack up so pretty cool things too.

* LOTS of chocolate hearts (that I generously share with the custodians and whoever wants them).
* Hersey Kisses with caramel (that I didn't share!)
* A Red Lobster gift card (SCORE!)
* Cards, drawings and letters that are just precious!

The bear sings, "I wanna kiss you all over" when you press it's hand!!!!! Oh my!
