Crummy Church Signs Book

Today a new book releases from Humor-Blogs.com! It is entitled Crummy Church Signs Volume 1 (2004 - 2007). Taken as a "Best of..." from the popular Crummy Church Signs website, this book includes pictures of some of the worst church signs you'll ever see (poor grammar, bad theology, silly jokes, etc) along with the author's hilariously snarky commentary!

The best part is...I'm in the book! A picture/review I submitted was used in the book, so if the side-splitting content isn't enough to convince you to buy a copy, perhaps the inclusion of yours truly will tip the scales for you.

For a limited time only, the book is $10.99 with free shipping, and the author will autograph it! After Nov. 6, the price will rise to $12.99 plus shipping (and no autograph), so be sure to place your order now. VISIT THE HUMOR-BLOGS.COM STORE NOW and place your order! The book is 178 coffee-table sized pages, and contains church signs from over 35 states and several different countries.

The author, Joel Bezaire, is also donating ALL of his proceeds to Compassion, a charitable organization that places underpriviledged kids with sponsors around the world. So not only will you enjoy the book, some of that money is going to a great cause!

anointed one

Here's a really, really encouraging blog from Leonard Jones:

"I have a dear friend that is the most amazing worship leader I know. He has
stopped doing it because he says he has no more anointing for worship
anymore. Here's my question; when has that ever been a qualification for
leading worship? I never feel anointed to lead worship, NEVER. I do not let
that stop me from this calling though. Most of the time, I don't feel a
thing when I lead except maybe inadequacy. It's not about me, it's about
Jesus, his very name means; "anointed one". So what! If you are not
anointed, he is.

I'm off to rehab...

My rehab weekend consists of going to see my best friend. We are both in desperate need of a girl's night/weekend. We used to go to dinner once a month when she lived closer. It was good for both of us in order to talk and just hang out. We really are each other's sanity. So I'm off for a best friends weekend of rehab and stress relief. Her husband is keeping the baby for a few hours while we go to dinner Friday night. He's a great guy. And I think he knows we need this!
I plan on teaching Drew to say Ray Ray before I leave on Sunday (he's 5 months old now). I think he should definitely be able to babble something that resembles that with some intense instruction! I am a teacher after all! :)

corn dogs, cyclops, and concert

I'm fall breakin' it this week. I went to the fair with my friend Karen last night. Our second fair this week. (Now you know what teachers do with their time off! HA!) Of course we had to have a corn dog because it's the fair. After that we headed to ride the cyclops. The sign said "Do not ride if you are prone to nausea". Well, probably not the best option after eating corn dogs and onion rings but no none got sick or even thought about it (thank goodness). Then we were off to the big event. The Charlie Daniel's Band! Yep, that's right. Nothin' like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" performed live! It really was great. I also rather enjoyed his rendition of "How Great Thou Art". It was a fun night.

p.s. The cowboy hat was borrowed! :)

Another church sign!

"Who's for dinner?!?"
They should be more careful about posting "clever" (HA!) sayings along with upcoming events! The two make an interesting combination!

Staggering Statistics

I received an e-mail with the following statistics recently:

  • Fifteen hundred pastors leave the ministry each MONTH due to moral failure, spiritual burnout or contention in their churches
  • 70% of pastors do not have a close friend, confidant or mentor
  • 85 % of pastors say their greatest problem is dealing with disgruntled leaders and members
  • 80% of pastors wives feel left out and unappreciated by church members
  • 80% of pastors wives feel pressured to do things and be something in the church the they are really not.
So what does all this mean? Well, here's where I think we can start to help:
October is Pastor Appreciation Month. We should be praying for our pastors and leaders ALL the time. It's important to take the time to let them know that they are loved and appreciated.
